Start in the historic centre

Begin around Prešeren Square and the Triple Bridge, then follow the river toward the Central Market and Dragon Bridge. Ljubljana's historic centre is shaped by different periods of history and especially by the work of architect Jože Plečnik.

The best approach is not to rush. Leave time for the riverside, small streets, squares and cafés.

Follow the Ljubljanica River

The Ljubljanica is one of the city's defining landmarks. Its embankments, bridges and riverside terraces make a simple walk one of the most enjoyable things to do in Ljubljana. In warmer months, the river also offers boat trips and water-based activities.
